At MNprov, we believe the magic of improv isn’t just about laughs (though there’s plenty of that) — it’s about building confidence, connection, and real-world growth. And doing so in a way that’s accessible to everyone. Our goal is to empower diverse learners to build social-emotional skills, communication and creativity skills, resilience, and meaningful connections through the art of improv. And guess what? It works!

Research has shown improv — a fun, inclusive, zany & silly (and seriously effective!) activity — helps individuals learn to participate in group activities, develop social skills, learn divergent thinking, and boost self-confidence.

Donations raised through GIVE TO THE MAX help support our core programs.

MNprov has found (supported by additional research), that individuals who participate in improv experience and develop:  improved relationship building skills; an increase and a strengthening of self-confidence; improved collaboration skills; more flexibility of thought and adaptability; and also experience decreasing levels of stress.

MNprov (Minnesota + Improv) was founded in 2019 by Michael Bruckmueller and Kelly Kautz after several years of successfully providing applied improvisation to students on the autism spectrum in the Minnetonka School District, the North Saint Paul School district, and at the Autism Society of Minnesota.

Our Mission:  Through the art of improv, we empower neurodivergent individuals to discover their strengths, build social-emotional skills, confidence, connection, and resilience.

Our Core Programs:

MNprov Live! - Minnesota’s first all-neurodivergent improv troupe — performing monthly shows and community events that showcase talent, spark laughter, and build inclusion through creativity and connection.

MNprov Mixers - Free, drop-in improv workshops where neurodivergent adults connect, build confidence, and reduce stress through laughter, creativity, and community — no experience required.

MNprov FrieNDs - Free improv workshops for neurodivergent teens to build confidence, creativity, and friendships.

Corporate Training -  We use the power of improv to help teams think faster, listen better, and collaborate more meaningfully — all while laughing together. Our workshops are interactive, energizing, and designed to spark new ways of thinking.
