As a growing Hmong-led non-profit based in the Twin Cities to empower the Hmong community by nurturing the Hmong language, healing through the arts and wellness, and education across generations, we must have a plethora funding stream besides just grant funding. Here's what we do at MN Zej Zog to create systems change and transformation in the Hmong community - locally, statewide and nationally:

MN Zej Zog (MZZ) grew out of a decade of wide-reaching grassroots volunteer efforts, and finally turned our passionate work into a non-profit in 2020. MN Zej Zog’s board is Hmong-led, made up of dedicated representatives of our base: Hmong educators, parents, youth leaders, and community members. MN Zej Zog’s work and its impacts are possible because we are committed to responsive, sustainable, participant leadership and collaboration. Our grassroots network and educator coalitions include 500+ Hmong professionals. In the last fifteen years, MN Zej Zog’s projects have impacted 20,000+ Hmong people in Minnesota and across the U.S. Hmong community.

MN Zej Zog’s primary concern is bringing Hmong community visions for social transformation to life. We support community-driven initiatives and leveraging the extensive social fabric of the Hmong community. We organize, communicate, teach, and strengthen in ways that support Hmong language and cultural knowledge, hope, healing, and mental-emotional wellness. MN Zej Zog is able to be responsive to community calls for living out our mission by bringing together primarily grassroot programs:

Nationally:

  • Hmong language revitalization through Hmong language and culture education (The National Coalition of Hmong Language Educators) - established 2016

Statewide:

  • Hmong MN Educators Affinity group with mentorship, (MN Hmong Educators Coalition) - established 2021

Locally:

  • Hmong arts, cultural education, and healing (Voice and Power with the Arts)

  • Making the Brooklyns Our Home with Brooklyns Hmong New Year - established 2021

  • Empowering to Thrive: Fostering Hmong Brotherhood initiative - established 2022 and

  • our latest partnership initiative with MN Hmong Early Childhood Coalition to create iStrive Hmong Summer Camp at North Hennepin Community College - established 2022
