Minnesota Museum of American Art (The M)

This October marks the one-year anniversary of the M’s New Wing, a milestone that tripled the museum's gallery space and opened bold new possibilities for regional artists and visitors alike. In just 12 months, the M has turned that potential into impact. This year, the M:

• Welcomed more than 25,000 visitors—all enjoying free admission.
• Presented powerful exhibitions like HERE, NOW, Hilo de la Sangre, when you’re in the mirror..., and Queering Indigeneity, showcasing more than 170 permanent collection works by over 100 artists, many from our own community.
• Acquired new art from local talent such as Kim Benson, Rochelle Lame Bull, Maiya Lea Hartman, Cole Redhorse Taylor, Jonathan and Mino Hart Thunder, and Brooks Turner, many collected by a museum for the first time.
• Hosted community programs that brought thousands together to connect, reflect, and celebrate.

These numbers tell a powerful story: That the M is more than a museum—it’s a vital and beloved gathering place for community, a refuge, and a place of belonging for many. And it is sustained because of your ongoing support.
