Missed the Boat Theatre

Missed the Boat Theatre is dedicated to fostering vibrant Catholic community through high quality, artistic creations on the stage. Our shows are made to share the joys of Catholic community with our audiences, and we hope that everyone who sees one of our shows walks away feeling the love we have for one another and for the Lord.

This year, we took a leap of faith by hiring our first full-time Executive Director, as well as expanded part-time support staff. As a result, we doubled our programming, grew our donor base, and put on some of our biggest and best shows yet. But more importantly, we learned more about our mission, who we serve, and how to best live that out. Our mainstage show contributes to the building up of Catholic culture in the Twin Cities and gives artists a chance to deep dive into a big, complex, community-oriented artistic project. Our Cabaret and inaugural New Works Festival creates spaces for patrons to mingle more directly with artists and each other, and for artists to create and perform regardless of the busyness of the rest of their lives. Our classes, workshops, and retreats help people grow their craft or try on a new skill in a safe and supportive community. And this December, we’re offering a second mainstage show in a season for the first time ever.

• ~2200 ticket holders to our shows (Benefit Cabaret, The Matchmaker, and New Works Festival)
• 152 unique artists who participated in our programming
• 8 weeks of Mass and dinner provided for the company of The Matchmaker to nourish body, mind, and soul
• 106 script submissions to our New Works Festival, four of which were chosen for 3-work developmental workshops and public staged readings
• Monthly play-reading group with an average of 7 attendees to stay connected and learn together between shows 

We have big plans for next year too: growing artistic education and formation opportunities, a big June musical, making the New Work Festival an annual event, and continuing to explore what the small winter show can be. 

While there is no shortage in talent, there is a shortage of funds. We need your partnership to continue this life-changing work. Every theater survives on its patrons of the arts.
