Minnesota Winds

Minnesota Winds is our state's professional concert band!

We're on a mission to embrace the dynamic energy and inclusive culture of school band and bring it to the professional level. We know band is essential. Every year, it's how tens of thousands of students across Minnesota experience the power of music. But not every student has the same access to learn with and be inspired by professional musicians, and hardly any have ever heard their music performed at a world-class level. Minnesota Winds is here to change that.

Started by two former band students, the organization launched at the end of the summer with two preview concerts at the Minnesota State Fair and MacPhail Center for Music. Our education program is underway, and a trio of professional musicians is sharing music and stories with students—kindergarten all the way to auditioned high school ensembles—across the Twin Cities through YourClassical MPR's Class Notes program.
