Help Us Build the First Ever Dedicated Somali Community Center in Minnesota

We invite you to partner with us in a historic moment: MNSCC’s opportunity to purchase a permanent home for our community. We are seeking $250,000 as a down payment toward acquiring a building that will be our anchor where education, culture, healing, and empowerment will thrive under one roof.

Why this matters

For decades, Minnesota’s Somali community has grown in size, strength, and sophistication but we have lacked a dedicated facility of our own. A central, safe, accessible place where children can learn, youth can grow, families can heal, and our elders and newcomers can connect. With your support, we will create the first community center owned by and built for Minnesota’s Somali community.

What it will enable

With a permanent center, we can expand, enhance, and make permanent our signature services:

  • Early childhood support and tutoring/homework help for children, helping them start strong and stay engaged.
  • Summer enrichment classes that keep children active, learning, culturally grounded, and safe during out-of-school months.
  • Workforce development, driver and rideshare-driver support (such as for Lyft drivers), and rights education for working age adults in our community.
  • Addiction, mental health, and human‐rights advocacy services, vital supports that too often remain out of reach.
  • Housing, immigration, legal and financial services, resources that strengthen households, enable self-sufficiency, and reduce crisis.

Why your gift makes a difference

Owning our building means stability. It means we are not renting or moving from space to space; we are rooted. A permanent home enables us to serve more people, more consistently, with more dignity. The first $250,000 unlocks the down payment that gets us through the door. Once inside: we can furnish classrooms, launch summer labs, build a children’s library, host community gatherings, strengthen adult and family programs, and provide a stable base for dozens of services, year after year.

Our ask and your opportunity

Today we are asking you to make a meaningful gift toward that $250,000 down payment. Every dollar counts.

A gift of $1000 or $50,000 will help us get to our goal.

No matter the size, your contribution is an investment in the life of our community.

Our promise

With your support we will:

  • Complete the down-payment and closing on a safe, accessible building in the Twin Cities metro.
  • Launch operations by mid 2026, creating a vibrant hub for children, youth, adults, and families.
  • Provide full transparency and updates: monthly progress reports, donor acknowledgements, and a grand opening celebration to welcome all.
  • Leverage this asset to attract additional funding, partnerships, and capacity allowing MNSCC to serve more, better, and sustainably.

Be part of something historic

This isn’t just about a building. It’s about ownership, agency, and the power of the Somali Minnesota community to determine its future. Together, we will build the first dedicated Somali community center in Minnesota. Together, we will give our children, families, workers, and elders a place they can call home today and for generations to come.

Thank you for believing in this vision. Your gift today brings us one step closer to our shared future.

Donate now. Be part of building the foundation of our community.
