Mission:

Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC)’s mission is to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education, and advocacy.

Vision:

MRC envisions a world where recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs is understood, promoted, embraced, and enjoyed and where all who seek it have access to the support, care, and resources they need to achieve long-term recovery.

Background and MRC's Role in the Minnesota community:

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) remains a significant public health, community, and economic challenge in Minnesota, contributing to thousands of premature deaths and billions of dollars in economic costs.

Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC) addresses the far-reaching impacts of SUD through its innovative, peer-driven recovery support model. By providing free, individualized Peer Recovery Coaching services to people across Minnesota, MRC helps individuals build sustainable pathways to long-term recovery.

Much like primary and preventive healthcare, MRC’s approach emphasizes early intervention, ongoing support, and individualized care. Through one-to-one, person-centered services, our Peer Recovery Coaches meet individuals where they are in their recovery journeys, helping them build recovery capital—the personal, social, and community resources essential for sustained recovery.

By helping participants navigate complex systems, access critical resources, strengthen supportive relationships, and overcome barriers related to housing, employment, healthcare, and other essential needs, MRC empowers individuals to achieve stability, improve their quality of life, and lead healthy, fulfilling lives in long-term recovery from SUD.

• - Recovery Coach Academy (RCA): A comprehensive training program that equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to become effective Peer Recovery Coaches. The Academy strengthens participants’ personal recovery journeys while preparing them to enter Minnesota’s growing peer recovery support workforce and provide compassionate, person-centered support to others.

• - Forensic Peer Recovery Support: Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC) is helping develop and expand Minnesota’s forensic peer recovery support workforce. This innovative program serves individuals impacted by the criminal justice system, providing recovery-focused guidance, reentry planning, and connections to essential community resources. By addressing barriers to successful reintegration, Forensic Peer Recovery Support helps individuals establish sustainable recovery pathways, build stability, and successfully transition back into their communities.

• - Telephone Recovery Support (TRS): Provides consistent, personalized recovery support through weekly telephone check-ins, offering encouragement, accountability, and meaningful connections to the recovery community. These conversations help individuals sustain their recovery, reduce isolation, and strengthen their support networks. 

• MRC also continues to expand its bilingual recovery support services, increasing access to culturally responsive, Spanish-language support for Minnesota’s Spanish-speaking communities.

  Together, these programs advance MRC’s mission to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education, and advocacy while expanding access to recovery resources for individuals across Minnesota.
