Since our founding in 1992, Minneapolis Musical Theatre has brought 50 area premieres to the Twin Cities, including several award-winning productions. Our shows are locally crafted, featuring the skills of area performers, musicians, directors, and designers, often highlighting emerging talents within the local theater scene.
Recently we brought our work to unconventional spaces through site-specific productions. Our productions of “High Fidelity” at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, "Daddy Long Legs" at the James J. Hill House in St. Paul, and “Hands on a Hardbody” at the Luther Cadillac car dealership in Roseville have introduced our work to new audiences and provided an innovative, accessible way to experience the arts.
MMT depends on ticket sales for our shows along with contributions from individuals and companies in our community. We are a small organization and every single dollar counts. We’ve been working to increase the pay of our artists and technicians while continuing to keep ticket prices affordable. As we adjust our programming in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the recovery of the theater community, we are looking for new ways to bring our productions to audiences and challenge conceptions of how musical theater can happen.
Your donation has never been more important. Small theater companies everywhere continue to struggle after the pandemic. We've taken a longer-than-expected intermission to strategically plan our future and ensure that we can continue presenting new and rarely-seen works to Twin Cities audiences. Your support will allow MMT to continue providing opportunities for gifted local artists and expose audiences to works of musical theater they would not see otherwise.
We are so thrilled to be presenting the area premiere of TRIASSIC PARQ, which will perform at LUSH in March and April! This uproarious parody of everyone's favorite dinosaurs-run-amok movie Visit www.aboutmmt.org for more information.
Your donation this year will have more impact than ever. We hope you'll consider contributing to Minneapolis Musical Theatre and support rare musicals - well done.
