The only locally run, grass-roots historical society at Mille Lacs Lake

Since 1983, the chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit Mille Lacs Lake Historical Society has worked to make grass-roots area history part of the local scene, and to collect and preserve information, pictures, and artifacts for posterity.  In doing so, we also present what we collect at our museum on Main Street in Isle, Minnesota with permanent and changing displays.  We strive to have the facility open as often as possible weekends during the tourist season with our staff of uncompensated volunteers.  We also have presented a living history event located outside of town and set in the early 1800s every year since 1993, and a Fall Festival that highlights skills of past days at the museum.  We cooperate with local, county and state organizations as well.

If you would consider becoming a member of our organization, or making a donation or memorial gift, the membership and workers would be very grateful for your support.  If you have not yet done so, we urge you to visit our complex in Isle at the corner of Main Street & 4th Avenue, where the two oldest buildings in town (the 1895 and 1903 Isle Schools) house our main displays. We hope to see you there!  Thank you!

As a purely volunteer organization, our office is not often staffed.  The best way to reach is is by email to millelacs.vous@gmail.com
