Our Mission is to empower, engage, and organize immigrants and their allies in building healthy neighborhoods, schools and economy,

The Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network (MIFN) was formed in the wake of the national Immigrant  Worker’s Freedom Ride of 2003 and the Minnesota Freedom Ride of 2004. Both events were held in the tradition and spirit of the civil rights movement; replicating the leadership development and civic engagement models of the 1960’s ‘freedom rides’.  Their call was for humane and just changes to America’s immigration laws.

Over the past six years our community development strategies have included access to education programming, leadership and advocacy trainings, media literacy/participation, hosting bridge-building encuentros (gatherings) and using art as a catalyst for social change. As an emerging immigrant led organization, our skills have enabled us to serve as a hub of capacity building for immigrants, Latinos, youth, and decision makers. Through our process of developing the base of emerging leaders we work hand in hand with communities to implement successful strategies for immigrant integration that achieve systems change.

WE NEED PARTNERS TODAY!

In the past year the immigrant community has faced political setbacks.  Educational and incarceration disparities grow as opportunities decrease.  As an organization we struggled last year to survive, but with strong leadership and a renewed vision we are excited to empower and organize immigrants and their allies to end the abuses and imjustice.

Help us open doors for educaion to immigrants.

Help us build strong integrated communities.

Help us end oppressive immigration laws in Minnrsota (and across the USA!)
