Maple Grove Ambassador Scholarship Program

A nonprofit organization

Community - Character - Connecting - Confidence

OUR MISSION: To provide educational scholarships and the opportunity for personal - professional growth through involvement in community and increased awareness of the greater community around us.

OUR PROGRAM: The Maple Grove Ambassador Scholarship Program is run strictly by volunteers and feasible thanks to the kind donations from local community organizations and businesses who believe in the youth of today and the power of education.

Each Ambassador, at the end of her year of service, receives a $3,000 scholarship. To date, MGAP has awarded more than $145,000 in educational scholarships to young women ages 17-21.

Throughout the year, the Ambassadors take part in dozens of events in our great city of Maple Grove and the greater Twin Cities regions. Within Maple Grove, you can catch the Ambassadors as they help open new businesses coming to the city, visit neighborhoods during National Night Out, attend a city council meeting and help light the MG Christmas tree during the holidays. The Ambassadors also assist organizations such as the Lions and MGCO at their special events.

MGAP also continues to help host the Special Olympics MN Polar Plunge in Maple Grove since we helped help bring it to our city in 2008. The Ambassadors travel to Glenwood, Anoka, Cambridge, Albertville, Northfield and many more communities, creating a deep relationship between the cities. The Ambassadors also attend the Minneapolis Aquatennial and the St. Paul Winter Carnival, two of Minnesota's greatest festivals.

We hold special places in our heart for organizations such as Step Up for Down Syndrome, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Alzheimer's Association and Good Karma Animal Rescue. The Ambassadors spend several hours every year volunteering for these wonderful groups.

SUPPORT: Without the help and contributions of the Ambassador families, alumnae, MGAP volunteers and the wonderful community of Maple Grove, our program would not be able to do what we do.

Money donated goes to all parts of the program including but not limited to: scholarships, travel expenses, admission to events, wardrobe, float maintenance and publications.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Every year MGAP donates $9,000 in educational scholarships for the three chosen Ambassadors.

CANDIDATE LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE: Every summer, a group of young women participate in our leadership development program where they learn networking and interviewing skills, public speaking and to put their best professional foot forward.
