About Us

Mesabi Musical Theatre (MMT) is a community-driven organization dedicated to bringing the best of Broadway to Minnesota’s Iron Range. MMT has a long history in the region. Its first production, Guys and Dolls, was performed at Eveleth-Gilbert High School in 2002. The original mission of MMT was to provide opportunities for Range-wide high school students to participate in musical theater. Since then, MMT has produced 13 more musicals and three musical revues and has expanded to include cast and crew members of all ages from across the Iron Range. Plans are underway for a small-scale musical production in February 2024 and a large-scale musical production in July 2024.

Support MMT

If you support our mission of bringing the best of Broadway to the Iron Range, a financial contribution can ensure our organization continues to grow and thrive. According to the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, drama participation improves academic performance, school attendance, and reading comprehension. Actors of all ages build self-esteem, confidence, communication skills, and empathy. In addition, the 2017 Creative Minnesota Report showed that the Iron Range ranked “first in economic impact [of the 15 regions surveyed] from audience and organizational spending,” which totaled $12.3 million.

Your donation would help pay for expenses such as our dedicated production staff, performance royalties, facility rental, lights and sound equipment, sets, and costumes.
