Morrison County Animal Humane Society

OUR HISTORY:

The Morrison County Animal Humane Society (MCAHS) opened its doors the fall of 1985 in Little Falls, MN.

The MCAHS is a 501(C)3 non profit organization that counts on donations to help run the facility and care for the animals.  

OUR MISSION:

To provide humane protection for the homeless animals and help them find forever homes through education and community awareness.

OUR GOALS:

*To continue to provide a safe haven for abandoned, surrendered and stray animals.

*Be fiscally responsible in the use of monies donated to MCAHS.

*Maintain reasonable adoption fees which allow all people the ability to experience the wonderful joy an adopted animal brings to their life.

*Provide community education on what steps to take when concerned about an animal.

*Our goal of $20,000 will allow us to continue to provide protection for our homeless animals.

OUR VOLUNTEERS:

Since September 22, 2023, our shelter has been closed due to sickness in our kittens and adult cats.  We are working with veterinarians who are experts in assisting animal humane shelters during crises such as ours.  During these 7 weeks, our volunteers have donated over 800 hours of their personal time to care for the 60 felines in our care (cleaning and sanitizing their kennels, food dishes, etc., taking extra steps to insure bedding is cleaned and disinfected) as well as assisting our veterinarian specialists in treating and administrating daily medications to the kittens and adult cats.  We also have 10 dogs in our care.

We have wonderful community people who have donated litter, bleach, baking soda and other supplies that are regularly used.  WE CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH.

OUR URGENT NEED:

As stated above, the last 7 weeks have been extremely hard on our budget.  In providing the very best care of all the kittens and cats that are at the Morrison County Animal Humane Society, we have incurred  unexpected and large veterinary expenses, as well as the normal costs of providing shelter to our feline friends  As we have not been able to adopt out any of our kittens or cats until we are cleared by our team of veterinarians, we are losing out on that revenue stream.
