Rucking for Change
The Minneapolis Mayhem Rugby Football Club strives to promote participation in rugby by traditionally underrepresented groups, including gay men. We provide an inclusive environment in which members of diverse communities can learn the laws and practice of rugby and have the opportunity to compete at local, regional, national and international venues.
Many of our players are men who have never participated in team sports. Most of us have never seen a rugby match or even held a rugby ball before our first practice. The Mayhem strive to provide a welcoming environment to learn and play rugby throughout Minnesota, the United States, and Internationally when competing in International Gay Rugby's biennial Bingham Cup.
When we aren't practicing or competing, the Mayhem enjoys outreach, volunteering with the Special Olympics MN and supporting our fellow rugby teams across the midwest. We are proud to have raised over $40,000 for Special Olympics MN through the Polar Plunge since 2013.
A donation to Mayhem RFC would help us to pay for practice equipment, field space, travel costs, and tournament registration fees. All of these things are crucial in helping us to grow as a team and spread our message of inclusiveness as far as we possible can. By donating, you can help us to keep membership costs down and decrease the amount of time we need to focus on fundraising efforts, allowing us to devote more time to outreach, and of course, to rugby.
