The Martin County Humane Society cares for the homeless animals at the Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter and finds them homes.

Homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals find their way to the              Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter in many different ways.  Each is cared for by the workers and volunteers of the Martin County Humane Society as they wait for their new forever home.

While some of the pets entering the shelter are in great health, completely vetted, and ready to go to a new home, more commonly there are veterinary needs that must be met. Each cat and dog is spayed or neutered, treated with flea preventative, dewormed and vaccinated against rabies and distemper. All these plus food, cleaning supplies, and salaries add to a pretty penny.
