The Mac Carkhuff Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2005 in honor of Mac who was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Mac Carkhuff graduated from Brainerd High School in 1993 as a Scholar Athlete. He continued to college at Bozeman MT and Winona State, MN all the while playing college football. His passion for education and learning lead him to receive his Masters in Criminal Justice from St Cloud State.  At age 30, Mac was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2005. To honor Mac and his passion for learning, we have formed this non-profit 501 c (3) charity. With the funds that are raised each year, we give out a scholarship to a Brainerd High School Scholar Athlete, so we can help others attain all that Mac attained with a fabulous education. Mac had a unique situation growing up without a father, he was one of the first "Kinship Kids" in the Brainerd Area...meaning he was paired with an adult mentor (Terry T) from age 13 and continued his very close relationship with Terry until Mac's accident. In fact, if you asked Mac about Terry, he would grin big and instantly say that Terry is his father figure. Because of Mac's successful relationship with Terry and his high regard for Kinship, many years we have used the excess funds to donate to Kinship in Brainerd.  I hope that by reading this story about Mac you may be interested in making a donation, of any kind to the Mac Carkhuff Foundation. By doing so, you will be enabling us to continue awarding students college scholarships and supporting the Kinship organization.
