LHCB is a small Christian-based health facility in southern Bangladesh bringing health care and education to underserved women & children

The LHCB Story

LHCB continues to be the only Christian mission in
southern Bangladesh, a predominantly Muslim country where 83% of the population are Muslim, 16% Hindu and less than 1% Christian. 

LHCB is a living example of God’s word in action:
Christians living and working together with Muslims and Hindus in an area where some of the world's poorest people with the greatest needs are served by the fewest missionaries and resources.  

Our Work in Bangladesh

Health Care: 44 bed hospital with operating room, labor/delivery room, laboratory, pharmacy, outpatient clinic with immunization room, staff including 3 doctors and 18 nurses serving almost 12,000 patients per year

Community Development Programs: Education for women including basic skills (reading, writing, math) health and hygiene, human rights; training of Tradtional Birth Attendants (midwives) who attend deliveries in the villages, identify high risk pregnancies and refer these women to our hospital; safe water and sanitation projects; Primary School for ESL

 

What Your Support Can Do:

 $25 will pay for the training of a Traditional Birth Attendant (midwife) who will help women in the villages have safe deliveries.

$45 will pay the salary for a senior nurse for 1 week.

$200 will pay for a c/section and hospital stay for a mother and her baby.

$500 will pay the full cost for medical and laboratory supplies for one month.
