Lake Pepin is a vital component of the Mississippi River system, as well as a place of natural beauty, tight-knit river communities, and a critical resource for many wildlife species. The health of Lake Pepin is at a critical tipping point, and we rely heavily on the support of our members and donors to do our work to advocate for its future. 

The Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance (LPLA) is the only organization solely focused on protecting this stretch of the Mississippi River. We advocate for upstream sediment reduction and local lake management to improve water quality, habitat, and accessibility. Recently, we successfully championed the 2023 Bay City Habitat Restoration Project, a years-long campaign to dredge a navigation channel and use the material to create island habitats at the head of Lake Pepin.
