Lionsgate Foundation was founded in 2011 to support innovation in education for students with autism spectrum disorders.  Originally, the foundation was a part of Lionsgate Academy (LGA), a charter school with four locations in the metro area of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Since 2017, we have been a separate nonprofit organization with a goal to support students with autism and their families both within LGA and in the broader community.  With financial support from the greater Twin Cities area (and beyond), we are able to provide funding that supplements  existing programs for students, their families, and professionals who work with them.

In the past year, among other projects, the Foundation has funded:

  1. Stipends for 10 LGA staff who have returned to school to obtain Minnesota teaching licenses.
  2. A full size flower and vegetable garden on the Minnetonka campus.
  3. Archery in the Schools equipment sponsored by the Minnesota DNR.
  4. Outdoor furniture for classwork that can be done outside of the classroom.
  5. A new coffee shop business in Shoreview led by and staffed by student workers.
  6.  Author visits to classrooms and community based instruction throughout the Twin Cities.
