Lionsgate Foundation

During GiveMN 2025, please help support the Lionsgate Foundation! Central to our mission is expanding academic opportunities for neurodiverse students in grades 7-12 and students ages 18-22 pursuing a transitions-focused education. 

We help dissolve barriers, increase belonging, and fund initiatives that create meaningful impact for Lionsgate Academy students with autism and other learning differences. We also support special education staff and local organizations providing programming and services to the broader autism community.

How your GiveMN donation will make a difference:

• Enhance learning opportunities for students and special education staff that are not covered by federal or state funding.

• Support Lionsgate Academy staff in pursuing their passion for helping students by reimbursing expenses for continuing education, training and additional licensures.

• Support improvements to Lionsgate Academy’s facilities, including safety and security initiatives.

• Support Twin Cities-based community organizations that offer programming for neurodiverse individuals, including students and young adults with autism, ADHD and other learning differences.

• Build a stronger, brighter future for neurodiverse students to discover how to turn their passions into reality

ABOUT THE LIONSGATE FOUNDATION:

Established in 2011, our mission is to support Lionsgate Academy, a public charter school, with its ability to offer innovative academic offerings, extra-curricular opportunities, advanced technology options, develop best-practice techniques and safe school environment across four program locations in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro. We also support the broader autism education community. The Lionsgate Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that is 100% volunteer-driven by a Board of Directors, including parents, educators, and community members.

Examples of initiatives and projects Lionsgate Foundation has funded:

• Tuition reimbursement to Lionsgate Academy staff who have returned to college to secure advanced degrees and credentials.

• Tickets and busing to a Twins baseball game to reinforce math lessons, encourage community participation, and social connection with peers.

• Regulation baskets, basketball hoops for movement breaks, specialized trikes for students with mobility-related challenges and other specialized fitness center equipment.

• Items needed for running coffee carts for center-based students at two program locations, creating opportunities for students to learn new skills.

• YMCA memberships for students in a specialized program to create opportunities to spend time in the community and engage in physical activities.

• Innovative hands-on technology experiences for students such as funding an interactive Occupational Therapy-based software projected onto the floor or wall, and a laser cutter to expand creativity.

• Partners in Purpose grants to organizations across the Twin Cities providing critical services, programming and support to neurodiverse individuals.
