Less Cancer has continued to produce transformative work for change since our work first started in 2003. We were incorporated in 2004 under the Next Generation Choices Foundation, 501c3 public charity, in Fauquier County, Virginia. Since that time we have become known by our elevator speech "Less Cancer". Our work in prevention has been on thfrontlines in education, medical education, and in policy. We are founders of National Cancer Prevention Day, the National Cancer Prevention Workshop and we initiated the United States Congressional Bipartisan Cancer Prevention Caucus.
This past February, for instance, our National Cancer Prevention Workshop had a global online engagement, from across the United States and from several countries, as accounted for by viewers on the live and taped streams on our platforms for the workshop on Capitol Hill. Since our founding, we have worked for securing public health -all without special interest funding. Our educational work has been used for everything from creating policy to continuing medical education for health care providers to include nurses, physicians, and public health professionals. Today you can find our programming on the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine for nurses and physicians. It is also on the University’s online learning platform and on Coursera where currently the workshop has had over 4,000 enroll for continuing medical education credits for physicians, nurses, and public health professionals. Our role in education and cancer prevention has evolved to be a formidable force on the cancer landscape. How did this happen? Firstly, we have an extraordinary board of directors and advisors who are guided by the best evidence-based science to ensure our work is scrubbed and verified. Your help has a direct and accountable line to the work that is securing the public’s health today. The tools for cancer prevention are the investment we need today to lower increases in cancer incidence for the next generation and beyond. Today now more than ever we need your help.
