The mission of the Lao Assistance Center of Minnesota (LACM) is to increase the capacity of the Lao-American population in Minnesota by responding to community identified needs through developing programs and services that will promote the well-being of families and children while retaining their cultural heritage.

Established by ethnic Lao in 1983, we respond to urgent resettlement needs of fellow Lao refugees. Minnesota has the 3rd largest Lao population in the US.

North Minneapolis Lao are 40% of LACM clients.  Serving thousands of community members, LACM evolved into a most prominent Lao community-based agency in the Midwest, innovating programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the community.

Currently Lao are hit hard by the recession with high unemployment, growing substance abuse, gambling addiction, cultural divisions and alienation between elders and youth.

Our 5 interconnected programs annually serve 750+ low to moderate income Lao families.
