Lakeville Farmington Treehouse is a youth outreach program with a mission to inspire purpose and connection in teens. We do this by building trust, demonstrating consistency and appreciating each teen’s inherent value.
We serve at-risk/struggling teens in the communities of Lakeville, Farmington, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Rosemount and other nearby cities. The program fills a niche in these communities for youth in grades 7-12 who may not align well with other extracurricular activities because of social or mental health issues. Many of our participants also struggle to succeed in school which in turn becomes a focus for our programming.
Each Tuesday, we bring teens and adult leaders together to share a meal, join a large group presentation on life skills, and then partake in small group discussion where they can discuss challenges in their lives in a supportive environment. We also, on an ad-hoc basis, facilitate one-on-one mentoring as well as service and fun events for the teens (e.g. waterpark trips, crafts with the elderly, tie blankets for foster kids).
We positively impact teens who in turn positively impact their communities. We surround them with a caring community of adults and peers so they can develop the confidence and stability to thrive now and in the future. Our program helps them to discover their own value, to see a bright and hopeful future for themselves, to interact with positive adult role models, to engage in healthy ways with their peers, to serve their communities, to learn productive life skills and to find faith if that is of interest to them.
