Thank you for donating for Give to the Max - LICA is thrilled to have your support.

In 2021, LICA contributed to a project to remedy a water runoff problem, allocating funds for the installation of a curb along Lakeshore Avenue.

In this location, springtime rains caused soil erosion to end up in Lake Independence. This type of erosion is undesirable because soil contains nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen, which enhance aquatic plant growth and accelerate the degrading of water quality and fish and wildlife habitat.

LICA worked with residents and the City of Medina to solve this problem.

We are identifying other projects for the 2022 season which will positively impact the health of our beautiful lake.

Our goal for Give to the Max Day is $2,500 - these funds will be used toward projects which directly impact our mission of protecting Lake Independence's water quality and healthy lake habitat.

The Lake Independence Citizens Association, through education, advocacy and community involvement, is dedicated to the protection of Lake Independence’s water quality, natural beauty, fish and wildlife habitat, and to encourage the lake’s responsible use and enjoyment by all.

We are a central resource for information about projects undertaken by Medina and Independence public works departments, Three Rivers Parks, Hennepin County, the MN Dept of Natural Resources and other stakeholders.
