KOPI

Hello! 

We’re KOPI, a Minnesota non-profit operating both locally and internationally at the intersection of emergency medicine and mental health. We’re a team made up of doctors, nurses, paramedics, therapists and other passionate professionals in the medical field dedicated to making lasting change to global medicine. 

Doctors Peter Mabula and Rupa Joshi have identified an increased need for a pre-hospital emergency medicine network with mental health resources in Arusha, Tanzania; a need that KOPI is actively working to meet. Through this partnership we’ve had the opportunity to hold first responder training for local police officers since 2019 with the intention of implementing an emergency response system in the region. The trainings consist of vital medical interventions used in the field, including wound packing, pressure dressings, cervical spine stabilization and safe transports. This is coupled with a mental health portion that focuses on recognizing and coping with burnout/PTSD.  KOPI also provides trainings for doctors, nurses and community partners from schools on crisis intervention resources, mental health assessments and medication dosing.

By donating to KOPI you’re helping to fund these lifesaving trainings and the advancement of implementing a first responder system in the Arusha Region; which are essential in working to facilitate positive outcomes for medical emergencies. We, as many others, have experienced an increase in unforeseen operating costs due to the pandemic and global spread of COVID-19.
