Kenny Community School shows "The harder you work the smarter you get!"

Located in its namesake neighborhood in Southwest Minneapolis, Kenny Community School provides a nurturing environment with a focus on emotional well-being where children achieve high academic success through an anti-racist and culturally responsive education. Students enjoy learning in a beautiful campus, which houses exceptional water and perennial gardens installed and maintained by Kenny families and staff.

Like our mascot the Kangaroo, who cannot hop backwards, we are always looking forward. The Kenny learning community, regardless of their background and individual needs, will receive an anti-racist, holistic education that promotes lifelong learning and problem-solving skills to prepare students for a diverse and changing world. The Kenny teachers and staff are amazing and always step up to any challenge put before them. They are committed to the mission and vision of Kenny School.

We provide rigorous instruction and clear expectations for our students and emphasize that "effort creates ability". Our school provides a safe, positive environment that promotes learning. Students receive core content (reading, math, science, social studies) from their classroom teachers and essential content (art, physical education, and music) from specialists. We offer extended day through the ALC and community education programs which complement the school program. We use the Amaze Works program to create a positive school climate through the lens of anti-bias and equity education. There are many opportunities during the school year to develop a connection with families and the community. Kenny also implements Responsive Classroom to promote a safe, joyful, and engaging classroom along with Second Step to support social emotional learning.

Give to the Max Day donations increase and enhance the learning experiences for all Kenny students. In the past money raised has help support the transportation costs of field trips for students to attend "Journey to the Falls", Mill City Museum, Gibbs Farm, Eagle Bluff, and other class field trips. Donations have also supported our science, social studies, and enrichment curriculum. This year our focus will be to continue our equity work through affinity groups, speakers, performers who address anti-bias, and engagement of our diverse families.

Donations received by Kenny School are very appreciated and we cannot thank you enough.
