Since 2008, KSR has served over 2000 students in underserved communities teaching dance classes, creativity and life skills.
Preserve, present, create and expand the boundaries of American Tap dance.
We accomplish our mission through education, creation of new works, performing, presenting tap events, collaborating with other artists and investing in talented youth. We have been following this very mission since 1997.
Our outreach in the St. Paul public schools introduces students to a new form of art: tap dance! For over 2,000 students we’ve reached since 2008, KSR and our outreach program was their first dance class.
Every year, in every school, teachers tell us there is at least one child who, though quiet and withdrawn in other parts of the school day, lights up when they tap dance for the first time. Providing that motivation to be in school and to succeed is critical to long-term engagement and student success. We are honored to be part of the success of these students and to also be part of their family's experience.
To engage our local community, we offer FREE weekly classes at Can Can Wonderland introducing the general public to this art form and providing shoes for class.
The Youth Tap Ensemble
Our YTE is a group of youth performers who love tap dance and want to take it to the next level. With performances in Europe, China, and mainland America, our dancers get to do a variety of non-competitive performances. Our dancers have performed in America’s Got Talent, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Anne Bancroft Foundation, Chicago Human Rhythm Project and share their joy for dance with every performance.
