Community Engagement

Our outreach in St. Paul Public Schools introduces students to a vibrant and historically significant art form — tap dance! Since 2008, we’ve reached over 2,500 students, many of whom experienced their very first dance class with us.

Each year, teachers tell us about at least one student who struggles to stay engaged during the school day, yet lights up and thrives the moment they start to tap. That spark of confidence and joy can be life-changing — giving students a reason to come to school, stay motivated, and believe in themselves. We are proud to be recognized as a high-quality enrichment program helping students find rhythm, focus, and success through the art of tap dance.

The Youth Tap Ensemble

Keane Sense of Rhythm’s Youth Tap Ensemble showcases the next generation of rhythm makers—dedicated young dancers who bring passion, precision, and creativity to the stage. These talented performers train year-round under the guidance of professional tap artists, developing not only their technique but also their artistry, confidence, and collaboration skills. The ensemble performs throughout the Twin Cities and beyond, sharing the joy and legacy of tap dance with audiences of all ages. Through hard work and community engagement, these young dancers embody the spirit of perseverance, teamwork, and cultural pride that defines Keane Sense of Rhythm.

Our Mission

Preserve, present, create and expand the boundaries of American Tap dance.
We accomplish our mission through education, the creation of new works, performing, presenting tap events, collaborating with other artists, and investing in talented youth. We have been following this very mission since 1997.
