St. Paul Jewish Federation is Saving and Growing a Vital Community Program: Community Chaplaincy

This Give to the Max Day, we are thrilled to share our news!

Due to the upcoming merger of Jewish Family Service of St. Paul (JFS) and Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis (JFCS), the vital Community Chaplaincy program needs a new home.

We are proud to announce that the St. Paul Jewish Federation is stepping up to save this essential service. On January 1, the program will move to the Federation, and we are overjoyed to welcome its incredible leader, Rabbi Lynn Liberman, BCC, to our staff.

This moment shows the power of your Federation. We not only identify critical community needs but also act decisively to protect them. This program, which the Federation helped launch with its original seed funding years ago, was at risk of disappearing. Thanks to your support, we are ensuring it has a stable and permanent home to continue its sacred work.

Our Goal: $10,000 to Relaunch this Lifeline

This Give to the Max Day, we need to raise $10,000 to ensure a seamless transition and relaunch for the Community Chaplaincy program. Your gift today will directly fund this vital work, connecting our community’s most vulnerable with the spiritual care and comfort they deserve.

What is the Community Chaplaincy Program?

The Community Chaplaincy program is a spiritual lifeline. It provides compassionate Jewish spiritual care, guidance, and support to individuals in our community who are not connected to a synagogue and are facing profound life challenges.

This includes:

  • Visiting people who are ill in hospitals.

  • Supporting those in long-term care, assisted living, or hospice.

  • Providing comfort to individuals facing loneliness, disability, or end-of-life issues.

Rabbi Liberman serves as a crucial link to Jewish tradition and community, ensuring that no one faces their most challenging moments alone.

Meet Rabbi Lynn Liberman, BCC

We are so fortunate to have a spiritual leader with such deep experience and compassion joining our team.

Rabbi Lynn Liberman is a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1993. After serving as a congregational rabbi for over 20 years, she dedicated herself to full-time chaplaincy.

Her commitment to our entire community runs deep. In addition to her role as Community Chaplain, she has served as an on-call chaplain at major local hospitals, including Regions and Gillette Children's Hospital. She has been a dedicated volunteer Police and Fire Chaplain for 25 years. Rabbi Liberman is known for her warm, empathetic presence and her ability to provide comfort in times of deep challenge and pain.

Your Gift Today Saves This Program

Your Give to the Max Day donation will ensure that when someone in our Jewish community is alone in a hospital room or facing a crisis without a rabbi to call, Rabbi Liberman can be there for them.

Please make a generous gift today to help us raise $10,000 and give this vital program the secure home it deserves.
