Jazba Entertainment x Give It To the MAX


Jazba Entertainment is an organization that focuses on spreading South Asian cultural awareness through dance and the arts. In addition to this cultural element, we proudly carry a nonprofit initiative to our mission. Inspired by the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, Jazba Entertainment partners with Women In Need (WIN) - an organization that rehabilitates the lives of impoverished South Asian women who suffer or have suffered from sexual assault, HIV/AIDS, leprosy, mental illness, and the pitfalls of poverty in Nagpur, India. 

Each year we host an intercollegiate, Bollywood-Fusion dance competition at the University of Minnesota campus.The event features the best Bollywood-Fusion dance teams from all across the country who perform in front of a full audience of hundreds of students, faculty, and community members. Upon conclusion of the event, we donate the net proceeds from our fiscal year to WIN and help to enact change in the lives of South Asian women.

Here are few highlights from our first-ever event, Jazba 2015: A Bollywood-Fusion Dance Competition, held on February 21st, 2015 at the Ted Mann Concert Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jazba 2015 Highlights
  • Invited and hosted eight collegiate, Bollywood-Fusion dance teams from across the country. Participating universities included--

    - Case Western Reserve University
    - Washington University in St. Louis
    - University of Miami
    - University of Wisconsin - Madison
    - Marquette University
    - Wayne State University
    - University of Illinois - Chicago
    - University of Kansas
  • Sold-out show with approx. 1,000 in attendance, including children, students, professionals, faculty, family, and friends. The audience breakdown was 53% students, 21% friends and family, and 26% community members
  • Our donation to Women In Need (WIN) neared $3,000, an amount enough to impact the lives of many impoverished women in Nagpur, India.
  • National recognition from prestigious organizations such as Bollywood America, South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), and more.

For Jazba 2016, we are making our competition even BIGGER.

  • Jazba 2016 will be one of seven Automatic Bid Competitions across the country this competitive season, with our Champion receiving a bid to North America's Filmi-Fusion Dance Championship, Bollywood America. This distinction claims our competition as one of the best in North America, attracting the absolute best collegiate dance teams and making for a unique and incredible show.
  • Jazba 2016 will be held on February 27th, 2016 at the prestigious Northrop Memorial Auditorium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hosted at one of the largest universities in the country, we anticipate an audience of over 1,500 people, including a heavy chunk of attendees from out-of-state. We will also be live-streaming the competition this year, allowing for viewership around the world.
  • Jazba 2016 will host 10 collegiate Bollywood-Fusion dance teams from across North America this year. In our first year, we received 43 team applications. We anticipate close to 60 team applications this year.
  • Jazba Entertainment plans to donate a minimum of $5,000 to Women In Need this year, allowing for an even greater impact in the South Asian women community.
