Building Independence. Inspiring Confidence. Creating Community.

The seeds of J-HAP were planted around a kitchen table, when a group of parents of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) gathered to share a common hope—and a common fear. Each parent dreamed of a future where their child could live independently, safely, and with dignity. But they also knew how few options existed. They envisioned a place where adults with IDD could live not only in secure, accessible housing, but also in a vibrant, enriching community filled with friendships, learning, creativity, and joy.

Out of those conversations came a commitment: If such a community didn’t exist, they would build one.

Years of research, planning, and heartfelt advocacy led to the creation of Cornerstone Creek, a state-of-the-art affordable apartment building in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Today, Cornerstone Creek is home to 48 adults with IDD—a thriving, inclusive community where tenants are supported, celebrated, and empowered to live their fullest, most independent lives.

Who We Are Today

J-HAP now supports adults with IDD, their families, friends, and the broader community through a model that blends affordable housing, wraparound support, and rich social-emotional programming. Cornerstone Creek offers:

  • Affordable, supportive housing where tenants can truly age in place

  • 24/7 front desk staff ensuring safety and peace of mind

  • Tenant-inspired programming shaped by the interests and ideas of residents

  • Life-skills, arts, wellness, and community activities that nurture growth, confidence, and independence

  • A culture of dignity, belonging, and opportunity

Our tenants are artists, athletes, employees, volunteers, leaders, and cherished community members—all contributing their gifts to the world around them.

Why Your Support Matters

Your generosity helps us ensure that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the chance to live the lives they choose—lives filled with independence, self-confidence, and meaningful connection.

Give to the Max Day support directly sustains:

  • Daily safety and security through 24/7 front desk staffing

  • Transportation and community outings that reduce isolation and widen opportunity

  • Life-skills classes that help tenants grow in their independence
