Iron Range Equine Sanctuary Inc

Iron Range Equine Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equine rescue and sanctuary located in northern Minnesota. Our mission is to provide rehabilitation, lifelong sanctuary, and compassionate care for abused, neglected, abandoned, and senior equines. On a case-by-case basis, we also provide refuge for other farm animals in need when space and resources allow.

Many of the animals who arrive at our sanctuary have endured neglect, abuse, medical challenges, or simply have nowhere else to go. Some need emergency veterinary care, specialized nutrition, corrective farrier work, and months of rehabilitation. Others come to us in their senior years, needing a safe place to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. Regardless of their past, every animal is treated with patience, dignity, and kindness.

As a true sanctuary, our commitment doesn't end when an animal recovers. Many of our residents become permanent members of our family because of age, chronic medical conditions, or behavioral needs that make re-homing unrealistic. We believe every animal deserves safety, comfort, and love—whether they stay with us for a few months or for the rest of their lives.

Our work is made possible through the generosity of our community. Donations help provide:

• Hay, grain, and specialized feeds
• Veterinary care, medications, and emergency treatment
• Farrier and dental care
• Shelter, fencing, and safe facilities
• Bedding and daily care supplies
• Ongoing enrichment and quality of life for every resident

Iron Range Equine Sanctuary also works alongside veterinarians, farriers, law enforcement, and animal welfare organizations to help horses and farm animals in crisis throughout our region. We believe education, responsible ownership, and community partnerships are essential to improving animal welfare.
