Creativity Changing Communities!

It’s been an incredible year! Here are some of the stats:

  • 8 Artist Mentors at 6 Minneapolis Art Exploration Programs serving 141 students
  • 6 Artist Mentors at 1 Pasadena Art Camp serving 135 students
  • 25 Artist Mentors at 9 Art Camps in Kenya and Liberia serving 582 students
  • 16 Scholarship Students and 6 Small Business Partners
  • 1 Creative Arts Building at Mission of Hope for the Disabled in Liberia
  • Sound system and instruments purchased for Kariobangi Children’s Home in Kenya

However, far more important than statistics are the stories of young people using their creativity to change their communities! Here’s just one.

Stephanie’s Story

Stephanie grew up in the Mathare Valley Slum in Kenya. Her father, an architect, passed away when she was a child, so she dreamed of honoring him by pursuing a career in architecture and design. At the age of thirteen she attended Art Camp and discovered her talent for fashion and design. By the age of sixteen she was an assistant Artist Mentor in fashion class and after graduation from High School Stephanie was awarded a scholarship to study at the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts. During her training she developed a new dream to launch an Interior Design business called Dalawa Decos. Dalawa means “home” in Swahili and the mission of her new company is to make creative and sustainable home accessories for clients in the Nairobi area. Inverted Arts is thrilled to begin a five-year business partnership with Stephanie and Dalawa Decos beginning January 1st, 2025!

This fall we invite you to invest in Stephanie’s new business and help nurture the dreams of other young people just like her through our Art Camps, Scholarship Programs and Business Partnerships. Together we can help young people unleash their creativity and transform their communities!

Meet Stephanie!
