Institute for Holocaust Research and Education

The Institute for Holocaust Research and Education (IHRE) is a Minnesota non-profit and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization committed to combating antisemitism and Holocaust apathy through education. IHRE strives to harness the power of history to ensure the realities of unrestrained antisemitism and its horrible outcomes are not erased or minimized by deliberate denial or distortion.

IHRE’s Mission: To amplify knowledge and information about the Holocaust and antisemitism in order to inspire successive generations to recognize and combat intolerance, discrimination, and injustice in all of their forms.

IHRE’s Vision: To empower successive generations to become advocates for tolerance and empathy through illuminating the darkest chapter in human history and today’s ongoing antisemitism. 

IHRE uses educational programming to stimulate interest and understanding about the causes and impact of the current forms of antisemitism. IHRE also seeks to awaken within successive generations an understanding of the history, lessons, and legacy of the Holocaust with thought-provoking information that encourages awareness of any signposts that could lead us to a resurgence of that horrific history. To that end, an IHRE goal is to confront today’s antisemitism through education about the Holocaust.  

Although IHRE’s battleground right now is on social media, combatting antisemitism and Holocaust distortion and apathy is complicated and requires a multifaceted approach. While social media platforms are important tools for engaging younger generations in the fight against hate, they are not the only means of doing so. By creating diverse educational programming including informational articles, news updates, in-person events, partnerships with other organizations, and educational programs, IHRE will reach other generations (Gen X, and Baby Boomers) and make a meaningful impact in the fight against all forms of hate, discrimination, and intolerance.
