Contribute to our Resilient Roots: Support Generational Wealth Building through Arts and Activism

Despite the pandemic health crisis and civil unrest in 2020, Indigenous Roots continues to provide accessible space and opportunities for Brown, Black, Native and Indigenous Artists, Organizers and Entrepreneurs to practice, share, learn, develop, incubate and produce their artwork/art form/business.  The demand for space and opportunities has grown and more so for BIPOC artists and/or business owners. For this reason, Indigenous Roots is committed to keeping its doors open ad sharing its resources.

Our Roots

Indigenous Roots began its work in 2006 from a dance and drum community circle known as Kalpulli Yaocenoxtli.  This community circle continues to share traditional Mexica Nahua dance, drum and song. Through the years, Indigenous Roots has evolved to meet the growing need to reconnect with ancestral knowledge systems. On May 11, 2017, this East Side St. Paul-based arts nonprofit opened the doors to  Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center with a coalition of artists, cultural groups and organizations dedicated to building, supporting and cultivating opportunities for Indigenous peoples and communities of color through cultural arts and activism.
