Highland Park Montessori School, a special place to learn and grow in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Highland Park Montessori School is a non-profit corporation, established in 1963. Ours is the oldest existing Montessori school in Minnesota! Following the principles and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, the staff at HPMS provides beautiful environments for the children to explore, where their natural curiosity and love for knowledge guides them in their learning. The atmosphere is one of mutual trust and respect, a reverence for life and peace. As trained professionals, the staff serves as guides and facilitators, responding to the needs of the individual and the community. Our Montessori guides and Afternoon Program teacher are AMI (Association Montessori International) trained.

Our Toddler Community is thriving! We are so thrilled to be able to offer a Montessori experience to toddlers. Our Toddler Community of 12 children varies in ages from 16 to 33 months. Our two Children’s House Environments, each having 20 children, varies in ages from 33 months to 6 years. These little communities of mixed ages are typical and essential to the Montessori environment, where the younger children learn from the example of the older ones, and the older children learn from helping the younger ones.

Just as our neighbor to the west, Macalester College, has a Center for Global Citizenship -- we too are a center for global citizenship in its most authentic form. Young children learning, growing and playing together, showing respect toward one another and going about their days in peace. We ask for your financial support to help us in our work with the children from generation to generation.

Thank you!
