Helping Haitian women improve their communities by providing renewable small business loans.

Microcredit Loans Give Hope

Helping Haiti Work is a nonprofit organization providing microcredit loans to women in Limbe, and a second program has been started in rural Ranquitte, Haiti, where even more women are waiting for loans.

Our clients lack collateral for traditional bank loans. Many of them have been raising children and caring for elderly relatives. These women want work to support their families, have hope for their children’s future, and they have the drive to help their community.

Our program is designed to empower women and encourage entrepreneurship.

Each client receives $250 US funds in Haitian currency. The women in each loan group support each other in their businesses. Some use their funds to travel to the Dominican Republic to buy items in bulk, then sell the items at their local market. Sewing centers have been created in Limbe and Ranquitte, and our clients are making reusable menstrual pads. These projects are also becoming very successful.

The loans are charged a low interest rate and repaid over 10 months. After the loan is repaid, the client has the option to borrow more to further invest in her business.
