Harambee Sports Club

Since 2019, Harambee Sports Club has offered quality sports-based youth development programs to thousands of young people in the Twin Cities Metro.

Harambee is a Swahili word that translates to "working or pulling together." We see sports as an engaging and challenging experience that must support youth with positive role models and provide them with opportunities to create connections with each other and their communities. 

Harambee Sports Club offers diverse sports-based activities including free play, teams, training, tournaments and camps! We offer many FREE programs and all fee-based programs operate on a sliding fee scale. 

We serve youth identifying in many different and overlapping cultures in and around the Twin Cities metro region. Our participants include first or second generation families from five different continents, families that hear more than 20 different languages spoken at home and individuals that live in 70 different zip codes in the metro area. 

We provide:

• Multicultural Spaces: We believe diversity, equity, and cultural humility are the foundation for creating welcoming spaces for young people to be themselves, experience belonging, and have a positive identity.
• Positive Youth Development: Our sports-based youth development approach connects young people and adults through authentic engagement to build social and emotional skills, character, and resiliency.
• Diverse Programming: Our programs foster enjoyment and support long-term participation through a focus on multi-sport activities that are appealing to young people.  As a result of our youth-centered approach, our programs have incorporated futsal, soccer, volleyball, strength & conditioning, houseplants, chess, and more!
• Career & Workforce Readiness: We mentor young coaches and referees and provide resume-building job and volunteer opportunities, building social capital for young people’s lives beyond school.
