Help us Preserve our Permanent Home for our Organization and the History of Hanover and surrounding areas

The Hanover Historical Society has been gifted the former Hanover Zion United Methodist Church and Fellowship Hall property and will use the space as our permanent home for displays, meetings and educational services relevant to our Mission!

PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP US PRESERVE THIS HISTORIC CHURCH PROPERTY!  The sanctuary was built in 1885, and we need your help to ensure that we can afford to keep and maintain the property into the future.

The Hanover Historical Society’s overall objective is to identify, preserve, and disseminate knowledge about the history of the city of Hanover.

This objective is accomplished through three criteria

  1. Discovering and collecting material, which may help to establish or illustrate Hanover’s history. (Examples include the exploration, settlement, development and activities in peace and war, and Hanover’s progress in population, education, arts, science, agriculture, trade and transportation)
  2. Provide for the preservation of such material and for its accessibility, as feasible, to all who wish to examine or study it, as well as bring about the preservation of historic buildings, monuments, and markers
  3. Disseminate historical information and arouse interest in the past by publishing historical material, holding meetings with lectures and discussions, and by marking and maintaining recognized historical buildings, sites and trails with signage.
