Supporting Seniors with Independence, Dignity & Choice
Hamline Midway Elders (HME) helps older adults stay in their homes while keeping their independence, dignity, and ability to make choices. Since starting in 2001 as part of the Living at Home Network, HME has used a “neighbors helping neighbors” approach. This means both professionals and volunteers work together to support seniors and build strong community connections. At first, HME served the Hamline Midway neighborhood, but in 2015, we added the western part of Frogtown too.
Our Impact in 2025
In 2025, we supported 259 seniors, including 85 seniors who were new to our programs and services. From rides and friendly visits to health education and social activities, our goal is to help older adults stay connected, supported, and engaged in their communities.
Making a Difference Every Day
Throughout the year, our staff and volunteers provided:
Building Community Through Connection
Our programs also gave seniors opportunities to learn, socialize, and have fun together:
These activities do more than fill a calendar—they create opportunities for friendship, learning, laughter, and belonging.
Volunteers Make a Big Difference
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. In 2025, 6 individual volunteers and 10 volunteer groups contributed more than 2,103 hours of service.
Volunteers made an impact by:
Every hour volunteered helps a senior feel supported and less alone.
Working Together for Seniors
We are proud to work alongside community partners including AARP, Hamline University, St. Paul Public Housing, Keystone Services, and many others.
These partnerships allow us to connect seniors with more resources, expand our programs, and strengthen the support available to older adults in our community.
Your Support Makes This Possible
Every ride, friendly visit, meal, class, phone call, and gathering represents an opportunity to make a senior's life a little easier and a lot more connected.
When you give, you help us continue creating meaningful connections and providing practical support for seniors in our community. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
