When tragedy struck Amber’s family, she did what parents do—she kept going.

After losing her husband unexpectedly, Amber worked hard to provide for her children while navigating life as a single mom. But providing for her family meant making difficult choices, including living in a situation where there simply wasn’t enough room for everyone. Her boys had bedrooms, while Amber slept in the living room.

She dreamed of something different: a safe, stable home where her children could have room to grow, where they could invite friends over without embarrassment, and where the family could begin looking toward the future instead of simply getting through each day.

That dream became possible through Habitat for Humanity Fargo Moorhead Area.

Amber partnered with Habitat, putting in the hard work required to become a homeowner. Together with volunteers, donors and supporters from across our community, we helped build more than a house—we helped build a foundation for a new chapter in her family’s life.

Today, Amber and her children have something they didn’t have before: a place to call home.

A home changes more than where a family sleeps. It changes how children see their future. It gives parents the stability to plan, save and dream. It creates a place where families can gather, grow, and make memories together.

For Amber, it means her children can have their own rooms. It means having a yard and a safe neighborhood. It means being able to invite friends over and feel proud of where they live.
