GREAT RIVER CHORALE is a 62-voice auditioned community choir based in St. Cloud, MN that was founded in 2001 and celebrates its 25th anniversary in the 2025-26 season. In fall 2024 Great River Chorale expanded its programming with the introduction of the GRC Treble Choir, a 25-voice auditioned choir for adult treble voice singers. Members live in communities across Central MN, range in age from 21 to 78, and represent a wide variety of backgrounds and professions. Great River Chorale is the principal choral partner of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra.
Great River Chorale frequently collaborates with local and regional artists such as the St. Cloud String Quartet, CSB/SJU Chamber Choir, Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, and has commissioned new music from Minnesota composers including René Clausen, David Dickau, Timothy Takach, and Laura Caviani. Minnesota Public Radio selected the choir for MPR’s "Taste of the Holidays" CD featuring the state’s best regional ensembles in 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2013.
Great River Chorale was selected to perform at the 2025 American Choral Directors Association of MN state conference, was the only choir from greater Minnesota to perform in Chorus America's 2021 virutal national conference, and was one of ten headline choirs in the 2015 Northern Voice Festival in the Twin Cities. Mary Kay Geston has been the artistic director of Great River Chorale in 2010 and artistic managing director since 2015. Past artistic directors include founder David Scholz (2001-06), Lee Nelson (2006-09), Erick Lichte (2009-10), and interim guest director Matthew Ferrell (2011-12).
Great River Chorale sings with beautiful sound and an equal mix of 'earthy/heavenly' spirit!
