Faith in Action helps elderly & disabled folks to be able to live safely in their homes by bringing in volunteers to help with tasks they are no longer able to do alone.  FIA also helps struggling families by providing beds, kitchen table & chairs, and other basic household needs.  Thanks to our supporters, all our services are free to those we serve!  Thank You!!

  Great River Faith in Action relies on many volunteers to help in serving to the needs of those in the areas of Albertville, Becker, Big Lake, Clear Lake, Clearwater, Elk River, Monticello, Otsego, St. Michael, Zimmerman and the surrounding areas.  FIA provides rides to the doctor, dentist or grocery store, minor home repairs, yard work, snow removal, respite, friendly visiting, and more.

KEY MINISTRIES AND PROGRAMS AT GREAT RIVER FAITH IN ACTION:

• We Care Team -- Team members work to help clients live at home for as long as it is safe and reasonable for them to do so, and to help them during periods of transition.
• Bridging Project -- This brings together the young and old in a variety of ways including our Adopt a Grandparent program.
• Furniture 4 Families -- This helps by providing elderly clients with special chairs and beds. It also provides furniture to families that are in the process of rebuilding their lives.  Over half of these are single mothers leaving an abusive relationship.  We are partnering with Becker Furniture World to make this happen.

A FEW OF OUR STORIES:

This year we are serving a few people that are battling cancer.  Our volunteers drive them to their 2-5 hour chemo or radiation appointments multiple times a week.   Our staff works on contacting the social workers, clinic, family, volunteer and client to make sure everyone is on the same page.  Faith in Action is privileged to serve these folks, who otherwise could not get to these very important appointments. One woman said 'I just can't keep track of my appointments, but Faith in Action helps me.  I know my volunteer will help me get to my appointment.  I don't know what I'd do without you!' 

A woman reached out to Faith in Action in need of furniture.  She was living in a two bedroom apartment with her three month old son.All she had was an air mattress.  She had fled an abusive relationship and needed help.  Our Furniture for Families program was able to supply a couch, dining room table with chairs, rocking chair, new bed, bookshelf, dresser and boxes of household items for her kitchen.  She was extremely thankful Faith in Action was there for her and was surprised at the high quality of items given to her.
