Great Northern Winter Festival

The Great Northern has become known for thought-provoking, unique events that shine a light on the Twin Cities, the people who live here, and the winter climate that in many ways defines us. Through dozens of innovative and multidisciplinary events at its annual festival, The Great Northern attempts to answer the question: What does winter give us?

The festival’s focus on the outdoors, the arts, and climate – in winter – is an original mix. The Great Northern  provides valuable opportunities for invigoration, community building, learning, and sharing through programming that engages multiple cultural voices. 

The Great Northern encourages a perspective shift on the cold winter months from something to endure for the reward of summer to being worthy of engagement in their own right – and something to protect.

On Nov. 14, The Great Northern will announce the more than 50 events comprising its 2024 festival. The popular Sauna Village and Climate Solutions Series will be back, along with singular arts events, unique dining experiences, and invigorating outdoor activities. The festival will be easier than ever to navigate with a variety of passes, including a free option so everyone in the community can join in.
