Contributions to the Golden Valley Historical Society will be used primarily to expand use of the Society's historic building as an educational resource and gathering place.

The Golden Valley Historical Society was founded in 1974 to find, preserve and disseminate historical knowledge of the Village/City of Golden Valley, Minnesota. To this end the Society has collected and indexed a variety of oral histories, photographs, video records and other artifacts, all of which are in need of safe and accessible storage. Included are video and audio recordings of monthly programs about people, places and events of significance to Golden Valley and the surrounding community. All programs are free and open to the public.

Structural improvements to the Society's historic building are ongoing, including fire protection, accessibility, new heating and cooling equipment and, most recently, asbestos removal. Still needed are water-proofing and build-out of archival and display spaces so that these materials can be more easily viewed and shared with the public.
