Fostering appreciation and understanding of the culture, language, arts, and ongoing history of the German-speaking peoples.
Did you know that...there is only one high school left in the Saint Paul public school system that still offers German? And...the GAI, along with the Twin Cities German Immersion School, a public charter school co-founded by the GAI, will teach German to nearly 700 children and 300 adults this school year?
You might be surprised to learn that...nearly 40% of Minnesotans claim some German ancestry according to the 2000 census. That is more than the Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish ancestry combined. And...the GAI is co-hosting a free document translation workshop in conjunction with the Germanic Genealogy Society this fall. We are also working with GGS to sponsor the first-ever international Germanic Genealogy Conference next summer in Minneapolis.
Hopefully you have noticed that...in just the past 5 years, the GAI has doubled the amount of cultural programming it offers. And...this has been made possible only through the additional financial support given to the GAI by our members and friends. Your gift makes an immediate and direct impact for the GAI and our ability to reach thousands of people each year with our mission.
German language education matters.
Connecting with our heritage matters.
Promoting intercultural understanding matters.
And the work of the GAI is critical to all three.
We cannot do this work without your support. Please help us meet our goal of raising $35,000 for 2017, and know that you are fueling the movement to keep German language and cultural education accessible to all Minnesotans and beyond.
