For over 30 years, the Friends have been supporting the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra through fundraising, education, community awareness and volunteer activities.
Our goal is to be ambassadors for the SPCO and to help build audiences for the exciting world of chamber music. In addition to fundraising activities, hosting orchestra appreciation luncheons, Evenings with Musicians and other social and musical events, and offers a four-week music lecture series three times a year.
In the Fall of 2024, we launched Project Connect, which will bring musicians into local schools, and bring students to the Ordway and other venues to hear the SPCO. This year, students from Walker West Music Academy attended the Abel Selaocoe concert, and met with Maestro Selaocoe afterwards in the lobby. Great Oaks Academy, District 197 Orchestra Programs in Mendota Heights/Eagan/West St. Paul, Glacier Hills Elementary School, Oak Ridge School, St. Paul Music Academy, Kaposia Elementary, St. Helena School and more will provide over 1,000 students the experience of live orchestral music.
In addition, we will fund SPCO musician residencies in Apple Valley, St. Paul and South Washington County schools to make an even greater impact with our wonderful SPCO musicians!
