The Friends of Loring Park

Who are The Friends of Loring Park? 

We are a group of neighbors who love Loring Park and in 1997 incorporated as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving, improving, and supporting the park. Loring Park features Loring Lake; walking paths; a bike path; beautiful flower gardens; a dog park; a playground; basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts; a shuffleboard court; a horseshoe pit; a Community Garden; and activities for all ages offered by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. 

One of the major contributions to Loring Park by The Friends of Loring Park is volunteer gardening the second Saturday of every month from May through October and the removal of invasive species around the lake. In 2025, 53 volunteers participated in these opportunities to help maintain Loring Park. 

Loring Park hosts two major events each year: the Loring Park Art Festival and Twin Cities Pride. 

The Friends of Loring Park sponsor numerous events throughout the year: 

• Monthly Sing-Alongs with Dan Chouinard
• Meditation in the Park 
• Yoga
• Pickup Truck Opera

The Friends of Loring Park also support and promote Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board programming for all ages including canoeing, naturalist programs, movies and music in the park, summer food nutrition program for children, to name a few. 

To help protect the tree canopy in Loring Park, The Friends of Loring Park finance the inoculation of trees and volunteers help water newly planted trees and the cherry trees in the northeast corner of the park. 

The Friends of Loring Park handle bench donations and commemorative bricks placed in the Garden of the Seasons. 

Your tax-deductible donation will allow The Friends of Loring Park to continue and build on these efforts. 

We, your neighbors, invite you to join us in this beautiful jewel of a park, whether it's getting your hands dirty in the gardens, attending an event, walking your dog, or just sitting on a bench and watching the world go by.
