Help Preserve Loring Park and Its Many Community Events

Loring Park is the center of one of the favorite neighborhoods in Minneapolis.   Friends of Loring Park is the volunteer group dedicated to preserving and to improving the park.  Loring Park is the oldest big park in Minneapolis.   Established in 1883, it is named after the first park board chair.  It features Loring Lake, walking paths, beautiful flower gardens, a dog park, playgrounds, activities for all ages.

The Friends sponsor a broad range of cultural and social events, attended by thousands every year:

  • Loring Park Art Festival
  • WinterFest with Horse-drawn Sleigh Rides
  • Twin Cities Pride
  • Sing-Alongs with Dan Chouinard
  • Holidazzle
  • Meditation in the Park
  • Yoga, Canoeing
  • Halloween Open House
  • Food Gardening Plots for Neighbors
  • Artist in Residence

The Friends organize volunteer gardeners to tend the many gardens, help protect its huge variety of trees, and watch over water quality so that the egrets and herons and wood-ducks visit the lake.  From the Ole Bull statue near the Minneapolis Community & Technical College to the famous Gazebo for Four Anarchists by Minnesota artist Siah Armajani to the historical Community building, so many love to stroll, jog, bike, picnic, and simply enjoy the lake and Loring Park every day.

Your donation will help Friends of Loring Park work for a great future with new tennis and pickleball courts, a restored Berger Fountain, better paths, a thriving and lovely lake.
