The Freedom Day Festival is a powerful, community-led celebration honoring Juneteenth and uplifting Black history, culture, and community. Entirely organized by volunteers, this free, all-inclusive family-friendly event brings people of all ages and backgrounds together for a day of learning, connection, and celebration.  The event held in Vadnais Heights welcomes hundreds of attendees each year from all over the Twin Cities.

The festival features live music, step dancers, local artists, and interactive activities. In 2026, we’re expanding the event with a new vendor market showcasing Black-owned businesses and local artisans, a larger Family Fun Zone with more games and activities for kids, a community art project and an exciting variety of food trucks alongside the free community meal. The History and Education Center will offer new exhibits and storytelling, while the Community Resource Area will connect attendees to local organizations and services.

Your donation helps make it all possible. Funds raised through GiveMN will directly support the planning, performers, supplies and equipment, curating of history boards and materials and outreach needed to keep Freedom Day free, accessible, and growing. Every dollar goes toward creating an inclusive, meaningful event that brings the community together.

Help us celebrate freedom, build equity, and create joy—right here in Vadnais Heights.  What a better time than now!
