Because of you, TennisWorks!
We’re not your typical tennis center. We’re dedicated to making tennis more accessible to everyone in our community, particularly youth from under-resourced communities. Our mission?
Engage our tennis community to inspire youth to thrive on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
TennisWorks is the youth development continuum at the heart of our mission of inspiring youth to thrive on and off the court.
We partner with schools around the Twin Cities to offer over 650 3rd-12th grade students a chance to learn tennis, with an intentional focus on involving students from under-resourced communities. Whether it's through a mid-day field trip to our building or a class in their school's gym, students who participate in TennisWorks, learn the sport of tennis, reflect on and practice life skills like teamwork, perseverance and leadership.
When Twin Cities businessman Fred Wells signed up for tennis lessons at the age of 65, he realized that the tennis court could be the site of powerful lessons like sportsmanship, perseverance and hard work.
Fred conceived a powerful vision: to offer tennis and life skill development opportunities to inspire youth from under-resourced communities to be successful on and off the court. Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center opened in 2002, realizing Wells' dream of affordable courts, accessible junior and adult tennis programs and innovative youth outreach programs all packed into one top-notch St. Paul tennis facility.
