Though the Sax-Zim Bog is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) this does not guarantee its protection.
Since 2011, Friends of Sax-Zim Bog, through generous support from our Bog Buddies, has worked to protect boreal habitat in the Sax-Zim Bog . We rely on your amazing gifts through memberships, donations, program revenue at educational events, and volunteering, to continue with our mission. Your funds provide us with:
Share your love of BIRDS, BOGS, and BIODIVERSITY by giving your gift today!
18 Days in the BOG! Check out our daily news feed - on Facebook, Instagram, or our website saxzim.org- for behind the scenes stories from the Bog, updated daily through Give to the Max Day.
The winter season will be upon us soon and so will the return of our arctic migrants! Your gifts have made it possible to begin several new research projects in the bog, including tracking migrations of kestrels, northern hawk owls, and northern shrike.
Our educational programming ramped up over the summer and continues through the winter with smaller in-person field trips (register at saxzim.org) and the much-beloved Virtually Live and Clinton’s Bog Ventures videos.
We are now focusing our efforts on connecting corridors of protected land in key areas with two exciting purchases over the next year totaling over 4,200 acres! Giving to our Acres for Owls/Corridors Land Fund enables these projects to happen. Will you join us? Gifts in any amount support these conservation efforts and any gift of $1,000 or more entitles you to your name or a memorial name on an acre of Bog. Leave your legacy in land for generations to come!
Much is happening in the Bog and we are so pleased you can join us in protecting this unique habitat!
